Hi friends! Welcome back to my shindig 🙂 To all my recently engaged ladies, congratulations! You snagged you a winner! I am doing my happy dance for you right now. Can you picture it 🙂 All my single ladies, all my single ladies. Now put your hands up. What better time to start planning for your upcoming or future engagement sessions than now.
I often get asked about the importance of engagement sessions, and I give my clients 3 main reasons as to why they would benefit from having one. Usually, during our chats, I see moments of inspiration as my clients realize the direct correlation between engagement sessions and a smooth wedding day. So, why are they important you ask…
Engagement sessions are the perfect venue for couples to spend quality time together. Often times, engagement sessions take place in a couple’s favorite location, such as a park, ice cream shop, hiking trail, or art gallery. The session can be the perfect time to unwind from the stress of wedding planning and just enjoy being engaged. Walking hand in hand and snuggling while capturing life long photos of the brief time you’ll be a fiance is priceless and you’ll want this captured.
In addition to celebrating your love together, engagement sessions provide the perfect vehicle to build a relationship with your photographer. On the road to your wedding day, you will probably be in contact with your photographer no more than a handful of times. Why not leverage your engagement session to connect personally with your photographer. In between shots, on breaks, and en route to your desired locations are the perfect opportunities to discover more about your photographer and vice versa. After all, your photographer will be with you more on your wedding day than any other vendor. And the more comfortable you are with your photographer will result in beautiful photos.
Are you America’s Next Top Model? I know I’m not, and that’s OK because engagement sessions are the perfect way to practice before the wedding day. During your engagement session, you’ll have the opportunity to learn your photographer’s style. You’ll also be able to determine which poses fit your individual personalities and reflect you as a unique couple. This is also the perfect time to let your photographer know which side is your good side. Don’t be afraid to share what you like and don’t like! Your new found knowledge gives you a leg up on your wedding day, as you’ll feel more comfortable and fall more seamlessly into your posing. And guess what, ultimately, this saves you much more time on your wedding day!
This is the best part. The photosssss! You’ll receive incredible professional photos of yourselves before the wedding day. With so many fun and unique ways to use your engagement photos, you’ll want to try them all. Here are some of my favorites: Gifts for family members, Save the Dates, Wedding Guestbook, Rehearsal Dinner slideshow, Christmas Cards, Canvases or Photos for your home, you can even put them on a mouse pad!
In conclusion, it’s all about having fun and celebrating the reason you’re there in the first place, the joining of two people in love. So get out there, strike a pose, and channel your inner Tyra. You may just surprise yourself at how good you are and walk away with a few gorgeous photos to prove it. Let me know down below if you’ve ever had professional photos taken?! Did you surprise yourself at how great you were? We’ll be chatting in later posts about the perfect location and outfits to wear during engagement session. Same time, same place. Until them, swing by and enjoy some of our recent work on the blog here & here.
